  • You May Need An Iron Constitution

I’m a big fan of Reese’s.  I’ll eat just about anything they make.  The Dark Chocolate cups?  Awesome.  The regular cups are an old fave.  Those limited edition ones they had to celebrate Elvis with the banana flavoring?  Surprisingly good.  And so when a friend of mine pointed me to 7-Eleven for a new taste experience, I couldn’t help myself.

  • One of Five… Not A Sour Experience

I am a discerning ice cream fan.  OK, I’m an ice cream snob.  When it comes to commerically available ice cream, I tend to float around Breyers, Haagen Dazs or Ben and Jerry’s with an occasional stop in Edy’s Dibs territory.  Most other brands usually just don’t taste as good to me.  They taste too artificial.  As if to appeal to me directly, Haagen-Dazs came out with their new line of all-natural flavors under the heading of Haagen-Dazs FIVE.

  • I’m Not a Coco-Nut… But…

Lauren did such an EXCELLENT job reviewing the Coconut M&M’s that I just had to try them myself.  Mercifully, a friend of mine tracked them down for me to try.

  • It’s What You Krave… To Coin A Phrase…

As a kid I was never a fan of beef jerky.  To be fair, my exposure was mainly to Slim Jims, which I believe most would agree is hardly representative of jerky as a whole. When I entered the work force, a friend of mine exposed me to Jack Links beef jerky, which was much more flavorful.  Then again, in comparison to Slim Jims, that’s not all that hard.  I liked the KC Masterpiece flavors as well as the Chicken […]

  • Take 3 – A No-Named Snacking Experience

Browsing the snack aisle at the local supermarket, I am always on the  lookout for a new snack experience.  While not necessarily out to bowl over the competition, Snyder’s of Hanover, makers of pretzels, have come out with Peanut Butter Pretzel Sandwich Dips – essentially, mini chocolate covered peanut butter pretzel sandwiches.

  • Pulling The General Out Of The Deep Freeze

In my long experience with prepared foods, I’ve never before come across a frozen, microwaveable Chinese food that I was interested in trying.  I don’t mean so-called Asian-styled chicken, but actual Chinese food dishes.  And while my first foray isn’t exactly 100% authentic Chinese food, it’s the closest I’ve come so far, and that’s Tai-Pei General Tso’s Chicken.

  • It Can Make You Believe Again

In the ages-old war between Coke and Pepsi, I am a Coke man.  Always have been, always will be.  Though, I must admit I am a Coke snob.  Not content to settle for a Caffeine-Free Coke or a Diet Coke or even the holiest of holies, a Coke Zero, I prefer my Cokes Classic.  Heck, I even love when Passover rolls around and they release the Cokes made with real sugar.  That’s the REALLY good stuff.  Recently, I could only […]

  • How Sweet Is It?

As someone who constantly finds himself on the go, I am always on the lookout for products that are easy to make and make me feel like I’m actually eating food and not junk out of a bag (i.e. chips, cookies and candy — stuff I LOVE to eat, but can leave you feeling a bit… I don’t know… unsatisfied). Enter a tub o’ shredded pork.

  • Not Quite A Fiesta

Hello everyone and welcome to the first-ever posting here at A Case of the Munchies.  Here we will bring to you from all corners of the supermarket and beyond all manner of food from off-the-shelf timesavers to “hey did you hear about this?” nuggets. As I was browsing the aisles this weekend for the subject of our first post, I stumbled upon one of those timesavers that actually looked promising.  It seems that the Chi-Chi’s brand has taken another step […]
